Hair loss in men and women
Hair loss is a fairly common problem in men and women after the age of 20 years. Men tends to undergo hair loss due to hereditary and male hormones. Whereas in women the causes of hair fall varies from nutritional deficiency, hormonal imbalance to psychological stress.
There are many other causes of hair loss in both men and women.
Male pattern baldness is the commonest problem that we see in our medical centre. More than 95% of hair thinking in men is due to male androgen hormone. The hair follicles on the vertex and frontal line is more sensitive to dehydrotestosterone (DHT) and it causes thinning and hair loss. The hair around the head and back of the head are more resistant and stays for long period of time in life.
How much hair have I lost and how far will it go?
At one point the head has Terminal Hair which are strong and fully grown hair, Vellus hair are fine and thin hair that will eventually fall and zone of absent hair. The hair loss in men begins in the temple area followed by receding frontal hair line. Then a patch of hair loss appears in the crown region. Eventually the crown and frontal region baldness join leaving a rim of hair around the head. It is easy to find out the degree of hair loss you are suffering by looking at the pictures in the scale below.

How is the procedure performed?
Donor area selection
The donor area is the back of the head and sides of the head that will grow hair without getting affected by hormones. A densitometry is performed to detect the density of existing hair. An estimate of possible number of grafts is established.
Recipient site selection and planning
This is the bald areas of the scalp. The areas are divided as frontal hair line, vertex, crown and temple areas. The sites are marked and photographs are taken.
ARTAS Hair Studio
This is an advanced feature of ARTAS Robot System. A 3D photograph based simulation is performed to see the potential result in an individual. The number of grafts, density, angulation and pattern is finalized along with the patient.
